Dinner Series, a new fashion film by RENATA BRENHA
Now live on NOWNESS
Renata Brenha is a Brazilian womenswear designer based in London, whose eponymous brand proposes a reconfiguration of value in contemporary fashion. Rooted in resourcefulness, the work draws on existing materials - tablecloths, curtains, beach towels, sportswear, and discarded textiles - displaced from their original function and transformed through techniques such as smocking, pleating, and crochet.
Guided by Gambiarra, a Brazilian ethos of inventive making, materials are cut, reworked, and reconstructed into garments that carry memory, tension, and presence. Domestic and popular references—football, folklore, and everyday textiles—are elevated into a refined yet instinctive language.
The work moves between contrasts: sport and ritual, structure and fluidity, the familiar and the unexpected. It rejects hierarchy between the precious and the ordinary, positioning transformation as both method and meaning.
Renata Brenha trained at Central Saint Martins (2016) and the Royal College of Art (2018). Her work has received international recognition, including finalist status at the Challenge the Fabric Sustainability Awards (2024) and semi-finalist distinction at the Latin American Fashion Awards (2023 & 2025).
Brenha was an artist-in-residence at the Sarabande: The Alexander McQueen Foundation (2023–2025) and is in Cohort Two of The Fashion Residency at Studio Smithfield, a business development programme from the Mayor of London, Projekt and Paul Smith’s Foundation, supported by British GQ and enabled by the City of London Corporation (2026).
